The Color Factory: A Colorful Girl’s Lost Paradise

unnamed

The moment I booked my trip to California in the beginning of this year, I knew that the one place I couldn’t leave without visiting was the Color Factory in San Francisco. I had been savoring that moment, since the first post I saw from the museum on their Instagram. I had been following them for the longest time, and now it was finally my chance to have the awaited experience. From the moment you walk in, the colorful building sets the tone for the fun experience that is waiting inside.

In the first room, you get a card that you will use to take pictures all around the museum. You scan this card before taking your pictures in each room, and then the pictures will be sent to your email afterwards. This is perfect for solo travelers, as the cameras are positioned in strategic places, so that the pictures look amazing no matter where you stand!

The experience starts with the Aroma Room, where you can scratch and sniff the most peculiar of smells, that go from “Musty Linen Closet”, “Drinking Out of Coconut at the Beach”, to “5 Year Old’s Birthday Cake”! Right in this room, so you can start your visit in the sweetest of ways, you will see a macaron carrousel! And you can pick your favorite from a variety of yummy flavors! Then you will see the orange room and the black and white room.

The Balloon Room by Geronimo Balloons, is mastered by the artist Jihan Zencirli. Although he is known for his balloon installations outside of buildings, he did this indoor masterpiece for the Color Factory. These balloons are followed by the Disco Room filled with disco balls, and the “Color Me” room created by the artists Andy J. Miller and Andrew Neyer, in which you can color a giant coloring book on the walls and leave your green mark!

Do you remember the game for kids “Lite Brite” we used to play with when we were kids? At the Color Factory, you can revisit your childhood memories on a huge scale!

AND MY FAVORITE ROOM OF ALL: The Yellow Pool! The best part is that the Color Factory does not time you in this room, so you can spend as much time in it as you wish, let out the kid inside of you, and accomplish your #LifeGoals like I did! Maybe I was TOO excited about this one, but I can promise you, this was the BEST experience by far from my trip to California!

And after all the fun you just had, you get to have a delicious ice cream, and head on out to go mural hunting! They even give you a map with the most colorful street murals of Downtown San Francisco!  I couldn’t ask for more out of this unforgettable experience, and I hope that you all get to have it, as you will leave with a smile on your face impossible to erase.
