It was time for #AMHRoadtrip2. And little did I know that the invitation made to me by UTV Rental back in November, to discover the stunning island of Vieques using their club carts, would turn out to be one of the most memorable experiences 2019 was waiting to surprise me with. Accompanied by fellow instagrammers, bloggers, videographers, and influencers that later became close friends, (Bianca Lives Local, Amanda Antonella, Wesley Blue, Jeimax Osorio, Daliandra, Rey Luis, and José  Márquez) we explored this piece of land that turned out to be a little piece of heaven. This is a meaningful and eye-opening experience that blew our minds away and stole our hearts forever, over the course of a weekend. If you’re looking for a place to visit that can captivate all your senses and leave you in awe, this is the destination waiting for you. Vieques, this one’s for you. #ViequesSeLevanta

Mural Hunting

Turns out that to my surprise, mural hunting in Vieques is very much alive! And most of my favorite murals that I encountered that weekend, were created by the urban artist Carlos Gil Rivera. As you  will see, most of Vieques’ urban art is about lots of tropical vibes and sunshine, intertwined with their love for the Island. And I was so lucky in this experience, that I even got the chance to see a mural coming to life for the “Bigotes” restaurant, and even had the honor of meeting the artist from Vieques, José Pérez. Lots of urban art to discover here, so put on your hunter shoes, because you got quite a show waiting for you.

Beaches 

If you’re looking for pristine blue waters that can show you the smallest details of what lies inside from just looking at it from the outside,  Vieques will take your breath away. I have traveled to paradisiac places as beautiful as Capri and Positano in Italy, and let me be clear here: Vieques has nothing to envy any other destination in the world.

Natural Sightseeing

For those wanderlusts that prefer the mountain side to the beach, you can also visit beautiful places like el Fortín Conde Mirasol, from where you can see la isla grande, St. Thomas, as well as Culebras. This is Vieques cultural epicentral. You can also grab your club cart and visit the iconic Ceiba tree. This tree dates from 300 to 400 years old, and not only is it impressive because of its size, but its beauty and staggering surroundings will leave you breathless. And for all those thrill-seekers,  I definitely recommend jumping from the Muelle Mosquito. Although I felt my soul leaving my body at first because the fear took over for a second there, it has been one of the coolest feelings I had the entire visit! Hotel El Blok

Have you ever been to the hotel El Blok in Vieques? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on one of the most unique hotels of the moment. Inspired by the coral reefs that surround the island, and patterns of natural light and fresh air, this is the perfect destination for the modern traveler looking for a place with lots of character to escape reality, and enter a bubble of pure vacation perfection. I invite you to visit this piece of art, with which I fell in love, the first moment I laid eyes on it. Huge thanks to El Blok for receiving us with a pool party at their remarkable rooftop and later, welcoming us to their delicious restaurant Placita.

As you see, the memories made in this roadtrip are impossible to erase. And although what I’m showing you is probably making you want to leave wherever it is you’re reading me from to visit Vieques, it is the moments that I can’t post the ones that took my breath away the most; those moments lived with friends that made this experience even more magical. Once again, thank you UTV Rental, El Blok, and the restaurants Mamma Mia and El Yate for welcoming us with such open arms.
