When I started the “A Mural Hunter” project, I never really thought that it would become such a passion of mine, and something that I would truly consider before choosing what countries to travel to. Mural hunting has little by little taken more and more space in my life, and it went from a hobby, to something that I’m truly passionate about. Showing people from all around the world the exciting color I can find in the streets, and actually inspiring them to see it in person is truly rewarding.
Since I heard about Wynwood Walls in Miami, this little piece of heaven became my number one top priority on my bucket list of places to travel to. And when I finally got the chance to visit with my boyfriend, it turned out to be the most amazing trip I have ever experienced.
Miami Design District

This neighborhood, which was taken as a personal project by the entrepreneur Craig Robbins, started blooming over fifteen years ago into the architectural masterpiece that it is today, as he acquired and redefined the total image of that place. With art installations, restaurants like Emilio and Gloria Stephan’s cuban “Stephan Kitchen”, and high end clothing and innovative furniture shops, the Miami Design District exudes a very sleek and elegant flair.
Wynwood

Just like the Miami Design District, Wynwood Walls was the personal project of the renowned “revitalizer” Tony Goldman. In 2009 this visionary, took this district which was characterized by oversized warehouses, decided to transform this area into the largest concentration of urban art in the world.
He was so successful at it that Wynwood became the one place where established and up and coming urban and graffiti artists want to showcase their talent. I even had the pleasure of seeing Puerto Rican muralist Alexis Díaz art twice, and I couldn’t feel more proud. From coffee shops, delicious restaurants to mixology bars, Wynwood has become the place where the cool crowds of Miami meet to enjoy their nightlife.

Wynwood Walls

The best part about Wynwood would have to be the park where the urban art that is protected lies. This gated paradise full of awesomeness and so much talent, features the work of artists like Mayahayuk, Case Maclaim, and Elseed, among other super talented urban artists.

All I have to say is that one entire weekend is Wynwood, Miami is simply not enough. There were so many murals that I couldn’t get to see, either because I couldn’t find them, or there was simply just not enough time. And this right here is my perfect excuse to go back one day (hopefully not too far from today) to my personal Disneyland called Wynwood Walls.
